And if he stands on the moon he can barely catch her eyes...

This Saturday will be my last day in Portland. I will be boarding the train and heading back to New Jersey, via visits to Mr. Weiss in Chicago and Mr. Holt in St. Louis. Up until last month I was really ready to go, tired of living in the woods all alone, tired of having no money, friends, ect. ect. ect. But, as it is bound to happen, this last month has been the best month here, and one of the best in memory. So part of me is sad, leaving behind all of the amazing things that I have learned to love in Portland, but more then that I am happy to have found great things to look back at as my train pulls away from the station. On that note I would like to dedicate this post to Fiona, who is largely responsible for my full belly and my uplifted soul this past month.
Alright enough of the emotional mumbo-jumbo. These photos are from my last trip to New Space. I am incredibly pleased with these. I was feeling pretty burned on photos and on my Nikon especially, but these turned me around. The first two are pictures of CALVIN MOTHERFUCKING JOHNSON!!!!!! He played at Laughing Horse Books about a month ago and it was a site!! He probably spent more time telling stories and dancing then playing songs, but they were excellent stories, and boy can he wiggle. The last picture is a sepia toned print of Mt. Hood that I took through one of those machines where you feed it a quarter and it acts like a little telescope or something. I think it looks pretty groovy! Sorry for so many words and not so many pictures, but alas, life is tough.

If you would be so kind, click on this one and view it large so that you can appreciate the sign in the middle.

To those of you fuckers reading this in New Jersey, I will see you soon.

Moose Look Me Gun Tic!

I meant to include these in yesterday's post but I was drowsy and forgot. These are disposable pictures from a trip to Mooselookmeguntic Lake in Maine last summer. That is my favorite place in the world. THE FUCKING WORLD.

Love is metaphysical gravity.

When Lights Are Low

Greetings earthlings. This is a potpourri of pictures new, old and teen-aged. I figure it is time for some color, the black and white was weighing heavily on my soul. Pinholes! Nikons! Dianas! It's all here and its all real folks. And while you slake your eye thirst for beauticious images, feast your ears on this gem:

First up to bat we have some pinholes from the modified Diana. I watched the movie the go-getter and was inspired to take fuzzy washed out pictures of nature. Boom shacka lacka.

Next we have a slew of Diana pictures taken on my sister's camera and on my clone before I butchered it into the pinhole machine that took the above photos. The blurry red ones that don't look like anything are from a show at the Pink House in Portland. Check out Splinter Cake, they blew my fucking mind.

These are from my Nikon. Some are from a trip to eastern Oregon to visit my Aunt. Smith Rocks is probably the coolest place I have ever been, it's like being in a cowboy movie from the 70's.

Stupid. Colorful.

inconnu

Today is devoted entirely to scanning pictures, old and new and instead of intelligently waiting until I have scanned them all I will just do a series of posts as I finish a bunch. This is a combo round of pictures from my dark room class and pictures from my pinhole cameras. Lah dee dah.

Pinholes:
These first five are from my first pinhole endeavors with an oatmeal canister camera. The third one down is a promo shot for Hailey and Haley's band Miss Scarlet With a Knife. Now all they need to do is write some songs. Boom! Roasted!

This one is a contact print from my 35mm Pintoid camera. For those of you crafty folks out there, here is a link on how to make one of your very own, very special Pintoid cams. Or if you're a lazy fuck I can make you one for the low low price of 2 dollars.

Next we have some sampler contact prints from a paper negative camera made out of a film canister. I made this one to do some solargraphy and I made these prints to test the pinhole out. I like how these pictures look with the negative carriers crossing each other. I recommend clicking on them and viewing them larger.

And finishing off the pinholes is a little sampler from a 120mm pinhole that I made by cutting the lens off my old diana clone.

Big Kid Cameras:
These two are from a trip to Sub Pop Rock City. I took the ferry into the city so the skyline view was fucking awesome. The second picture is from the Pike's Place Market. I can't get the picture to display correctly so your just going to have to deal with it. Rotate your head towards your left shoulder. I also went to the Experience Music Project and got to see Kurt Cobain's guitars, Krist's bass from the Bleach days and Dave's drum set from the In Utero tour. I had tears in my eyes. And to top it off I went to the building and saw the little directory sign that said Sub Pop Records-floor 3. Seattle is awesome.

My house has windows on each side that line up perfectly and apparently they must look like they are open because 3 or 4 times a week birds will smash into them and fall to the ground stunned. Unfortunately this dude was more than stunned. But I have immortalized him in a chemical reaction between silver halide salts bonded by gelatin and the D-76 photographic developer.

And finally, hands down the coolest picture I have ever taken! I have been sleeping outside because it has been so nice and clear the past two weeks. This was a 7 hour exposure at f/2.8.
